Why patients can expect access
QwikCare issues patient-specific prescriptions from providers licensed in the state where the prescription is used. Across the U.S., pharmacists are authorized to administer ACIP/CDC-recommended vaccines under valid prescriptions (and in many states under standing orders or similar authorities). Administration remains subject to pharmacy stock, identification, age limits, clinical judgment, and applicable state law or corporate policy. If a prescription has expired, the app starts a new encounter so the patient can obtain a refreshed prescription when medically appropriate.
Information for Pharmacists
Patients will present a signed prescription PDF and government ID. Prescriptions are issued by providers licensed in your state. Many states authorize pharmacist administration of COVID-19 vaccines under a valid prescription, standing order, or collaborative practice agreement. Please follow your state board’s rules and documentation standards.
- Verify identity; review the signed prescription; document per state rules.
- Contact Lemur PBC using the information on the prescription if verification is needed.
- Substitution language may be included for equivalent, currently available COVID-19 vaccines.
